A postdoctoral position is available at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez (UPRM) in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin – Madison (UWM) to work in the areas of theoretical soft condensed matter, statistical physics, and fluid mechanics.
The postdoctoral fellow will join a NSF-sponsored project exploring modeling of active colloidal particles in complex fluids. This team is led by Dr. Ubaldo M. Córdova-Figueroa and Dr. Aldo Acevedo from the Department of Chemical Engineering at UPRM and Dr. Nicholas Abbott from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at UWM.
We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated and career-oriented. The candidate is expected to have a PhD in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline. The candidate is required to be exceptional in soft condensed matter physics, statistical mechanics, fluid mechanics, mathematics and computer programming. The candidate will also be required to write proposals, manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and make technical presentations at national and international conferences.
Salary, benefits and visa sponsorship: The initial appointment will be for a period of 12 months, renewal will be granted at this period based on satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. The salary is approximately $38,000 per year plus health insurance and other fringe benefits. UPRM will sponsor a visa for non-US citizens/permanent residents if they are found to be eligible candidates.
